How watch hours are counted
Only public video watch time counts, and only on long-form videos for the 4,000 hours route. Time on private or unlisted videos does not count. Live streams count once they are public.
Common problems
Reused content, copyright claims and low-effort compilations often fail the review even when the numbers are met. Make sure your videos are your own and add real value.
What to do while you grow
Focus on retention. A video that people watch for most of its length adds more hours than a clicked-and-left one. Longer videos on one topic, a playlist per topic, and end screens to the next video all help.
